Navy Report released on May Massacre: Guardian Shadows Resist Arrest (Parasite Eve 2)

June 22nd, 2008

on the 12th of May, 109 and the status of the ongoing investigation. The main culprit in the attack, Weyln Xemal of the Guardian Shadows Corporation, has gone into hiding after his wingmen were killed resisting arrest.

Commander Kusgarl of the Caldari Navy issued the report detailing this turn of events. It opens with a section dealing with the events in new Caldari that officially confirms the details of the massacre. Pilots of the Guardian Shadows assisted by CAIN attacked a freighter they believed to intend harm against the Caldari State. In the attack, the Guardian Shadows destroyed the freighter so completely that the Caldari Navy was unable to recover enough wreckage remains to identify the passengers or what they may have been carrying on their persons, their reasons for doing so remain unknown.

When the Caldari investigation attempted to question Weyln Xemal during their investigation, Weyln and his wing-mates attempted to evade capture. Caldari Marines were detailed to arrest the members of Guardian Shadows due to this refusal to answer the navy s questions. When confronted with arrest, Weyln s wing-mates resisted with deadly force and were subsequently killed in a brief firefight with the heavily armed marines. Weyln s whereabouts are still unknown. Commander Kusgarl stated that the affair was an unfortunate setback in our investigation and that he hopes still that the leader of this attack will turn himself over to the State for questioning.

He then declared that the act of destroying the frieghter was one that must be accounted for and that more charges may be forthcoming. Commander Kusgarl trusts that anyone questioned will be more cooperative than the Guardian Shadows have been.

CCP 10th Anniversary tonight!
10 years ago, 1997.06.03, CCP was founded and a few good men started what would one day be the greatest game ever, EVE. A lot has happened since, CCP and EVE has grown and we’ve seen both good and bad times. Even with recent events most of it has been good and we believe that we’re on the right path to make sure both CCP and EVE will be even greater in the future. We’d also like to thank everyone for making EVE and CCP what it is today.

We would like all players to join us in celebrating this event, but since not everyone can fly out to Iceland we thought we’d have an online toast all with the EVE players all over the world. Please make sure you have the beverage of your choice, champagne maybe, and join us in a toast at midnight, 00.00 GMT, tonight!

To make it a bit more interesting we’d like to ask everyone to post in this thread what you will drink for this toast. So remember, 00.00 GMT tonight, no matter where you are or what you’re doing, stand up and make a toast for CCP and EVE!

Odamia Falls Under Caldari Onslaught
And So It Begins - Only days after CONCORD announced the Emergency Militia War Powers Act, the Caldari State have occupied the Gallente Federation system of Odamia in Placid.

The State Protectorate fleet led by Strike Commander Daniel Jackson have been operating in the Placid region for approximately one week, conducting raids on Federal facilities. The force consisted of approximately thirty frigate, destroyer and cruiser class vessels. Jackson was assisted by some very capable fleet members including Wing Commander Naisa who managed fleet logistics. He is quick to point out that he had other very capable commanders throughout this stage of deployment, who kept things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Whilst on maneuvers, intelligence arrived indicating the location of a vulnerable command and control bunker in the system of Odamia. Upon arrival in the system the fleet launched a full assault.

Expecting a high level of resistance it is surprising that of the main Federal militia forces, there were only “two [targets] sitting at 300km from [the bunker]” according to Jackson. Lieutenant Colonel Steve Celeste also noted an “interceptor while [they] were taking the bunker into armor.” However Captain Cyracis did point out that he was “organizing the support wing of battlecruisers and battleships” so that they would be ready for any counterattack on their position.

Odamia was the first system to fall in this conflict. It is now time for the Gallente to repond. However for the moment Ensign Cyriel Longinus sums up the general attitude of the fleet:

“Glory to the State.”
